After going to some high-energy rock gigs these last few weeks, I decided to tone it down a bit this past Saturday and take in the sounds of Bloodshot and Blue at The Ocean Deck at Green Harbor, Marshfield. Bloodshot and Blue is the acoustic alter-ego of Phase Four. Normally they consist of Paul Diggin on vocals and Thom Knight on guitar. From time to time, they are joined by one or both of their P4 brethren, as they were on this night by drummer Mike Fopiano.

The set list is somewhat similar to the Phase Four set list. Songs by The Foo Fighters, Squeeze, The Black Keys, and Bad Company are flexible enough that they can be done with a hard rockin’ edge or as on this evening, a softer more relaxed pace. Paul’s smooth vocals along with Thom’s guitar work and Mike’s steady background beat made for a very relaxing evening.

If you are looking for an evening away from hard rock you can’t go wrong with Bloodshot and Blue. They play next at The Tinker’s Son in Norwell on May 25. For more info check them out here on Facebook.
