Ever since I’ve started doing this photo – video hobby of mine for bands, I’ve kinda kept going to see the same core of bands that I’ve become comfortable with. There’s nothing wrong with that except that there’s  just so much talent out there that plays on a regular basis around the South Shore that I feel I need to see some other folks. That was the case this past Saturday night at Hajjar’s in Weymouth where I saw Krush. I saw them last December in Plymouth, but their lead singer was out so I didn’t really experience the full band. These guys quite simply are one heck of a party band that start off strong and don’t let up for a minute.

The night started out with “Dirty Water”, a song that is usually a sure bet to get people up on the dance floor or at least get them to get another beer to help encourage getting them up there soon. It seemed to work, as by the time they tore into “Squeezbox” by The Who a few songs later, the dance floor was starting to fill up and would only let up between sets.

These guys have a very diverse set list that lends itself to dancing up a storm and having a great time. I know that I haven’t seen a band play Adele’s Grammy Award winning “Rolling in the Deep” before. They played it with a rougher edge to it that really worked. Other songs they covered  were dance favorites such as “Footloose” by Kenny Loggins, “House Party” by The J Geils Band and “Bust a Move” by Young MC. They also tied a few songs together into one with “Brickhouse” by The Commodores leading into “Play that Funky Music” by Wild Cherry and  “Black Betty” by Ram Jam leading into “Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy” by Big and Rich.

All in all, theses guys had a great gig and I’d encourage anyone who has the urge to go out and dance their butts off to see these guys. The band is very laid back and only go by their first names. Krush is Pete on vocals, Rob on lead guitar, Tom on bass guitar, Bob on rhythm guitar / keyboards and Wayno on drums. Their next gig is Saturday, May 12 at The Home Plate in Taunton. They return to Rockland to kick off the Memorial Day weekend on Friday, May 25 at Player’s. Check them out at www.krushtheband.com and on Facebook and MySpace under Krush the Band.
