baseball1Pitching ruled the District 10 American Legion All-Star Game on Monday night at McKeon Park, as the West got the better of the East, 5-3.  John Carlson of Hingham Post 120 set the tone from the start, throwing two strong innings of one-hit ball, striking out three. The lefty, who is entering his senior year at Hingham, was named the West’s MVP. The West put up one run in each of the next three innings to take a 5-2 lead into the bottom  of the sixth. The first two runs came on a Nick Villanueva triple and a Joe Leahy double. The next came thanks to an East fielding error with two outs in the sixth. Rockland Post 147 players were part of the West team. Jonathan Turner (RHS), Tyler Peraksilis (AHS), and Bryan Dwyer (AHS) represented the Rockland Post 147 Raiders this year, and did very well. All three players touched the ball when at bat, and Turner went 2 for 2 at the plate, and scored one run. The game is played in front of college scouts and coaches, who were there in force. This is the second annual All Star game, and the West team coached by Dave Seropian (Post 35 Head Coach) and Vin Murray (Hingham Head Coach) have won both times with their squad.
