rockland-cardinals-logoThe Rockland Cardinals hosted the Canton A’s Tuesday night. The Cardinals earned their 4th win of the season 6-2. It seemed to take awhile for the young Cardinal team to find themselves defensively, as well as wake up at the plate, but the one thing they had going for them was their pitching. Rockland pitchers combined for 11 strikeouts on the night. Brandon Josselyn made his Cardinal debut and the crafty right hander turned in a veteran laden performance. Brandon went 5 innings allowing 3 hits, and striking out 7. He was followed up by left hander Alex McGrath who went 2 innings, striking out 4.
Offensively, Rockland used a 3 run 4th inning to break open a 1-1 game. They then followed that up with a 2 run 5th to lengthen their lead on way to the victory. Jake Pierce lead the way with a 3-4 night as well as collecting a stolen base. The big blow for Rockland though came in the 4th. After back to back singles by Ty Jenkins and Luke Figueira,  Alex Carey reached on an error and the bags were packed with Cardinals, and Alex Richardson cleared them with a triple.
The Cardinals find themselves sitting at 4-2 and certainly have room for improvement but in their last 2 wins the young Rockland squad has found ways to win when games have been “lingering” in the balance as far as which way the outcome will turnout. “North/South” type games. They have made sure to stay “North” in the win/loss column and in the end, that could prove to be a good thing for them.
