rockland-cardinals-logoThe Rockland Cardinals took their 8-6 record into a father’s day doubleheader vs Marshfield on Sunday and the results were beyond disappointing. In what should of been a revenge meeting for the young Cardinals the matchup ended  in a very one-sided affair yet again as they dropped both games 6-0 and 10-1 respectively. Earlier in the year, at Marshfield, Rockland lost both games of a doubleheader 3-1 and 4-1. The double dip loss on Sunday not only leaves the Cardinals overall record at 8-8 going forward but gives Marshfield the season series, 4-0, in which they outscored Rockland 24-4 in the 4 game series.

In game 1, Rockland just couldn’t put anything together hits wise therefore producing 0 runs in a game that sat tied 0-0 till the 5th inning. Nate Perkins gave the Cardinal a solid pitching performance but was given the hard luck loss. Ethan O’Hare did go 2-3 for Rockland and Alex Carey was 2-2

Game 2 was simply a disaster for Rockland. They produced only 1 hit and 2 base runners the entire game. This happened in the bottom of the second, while trailing 1-0, newcomer Jarred Sharkey lead off the inning with a leadoff walk and then stole second base. He would then be singled home by Luke Figueira with the lone hit for Rockland. The pitching and defense for Rockland was nowhere to be found going forward in this one, compiled with a poor showing on offense and the results were damaging.
