GAME 1 (Re-scheduled)
June 21, 2011

“4th of JULY came early ” quote Joe Reis

Rockland Post 147 VS. Hawkeye AC.

“Star of the day, Who will it be” (Community Auditions)?
Well I tell you who it be, it be Matt Nicholson from Post 147
Rockland Raiders. Matt Nicholson, after a full slate of
weekend baseball, was feeling pretty banged up on Monday,
but still played in the game against Bridgewater.
On Tuesday he was going to be rested by the Rockland
coaching staff, but plans changed and Matt was asked if he
could help out, and his answer was “YES”. The significance
of that was, Nicholson pitched Post 147 to a complete game
win over the 5 and 1 Hawkeye Legion team.
July Fourth came early at Strong Field, with Rockland batters
teeing off on Hawkeye starter CJ Hadad.
Home runs by Kevin Crane, Damian Bellotti, and oh by the way
Matt Nicholson, accounted for all the Post 147 runs.
Crane’s home run was a two run shot with Zach Littman on
base, with the first of his two hits. Nicholson’s home run was
first in the fourth inning, while Bellotti’s was the insurance
run in the seventh inning. Hawkeye pitcher Hadad for the most
part had Rockland struggling, limiting them to only 7 hits, but
4 of the hits were costly. On The Positive; Matt Nicholson used
only 89 pitches, gave up 9 hits and 2 runs, but also struck out 7
Hawkeye batters in the complete game victory. Zach Littman
and Kevin Crane went 2 for 3, and Post 147 had Home Runs
from Nicholson, Crane (2 run) and Bellotti.
