Rockland Post 147 beats Undefeated Post 35 Brockton
June 25, 2012
ROCKLAND POST 147 = 7
BROCKTON POST 35 = 3
Rockland American Legion Baseball team arrived at Edgar’s Field in Brockton, with 14 players and only 12 available due to injury, to do battle with District 10 powerhouse Brockton Post 35. The undefeated Brockton wasted no time striking in the first inning for two runs off Rockland starter Brody Loughlin. Loughlin coming off a stellar performance against Whitman, gave up three hits and two runs to the good hitting Post 35 offense. Brockton lefty starter Woodbridge, cruised over the first two innings striking out four Post 147 batters.
Then the world turned. Rockland pitcher Brody Loughlin, found his groove and allowed only five more hits over the next five innings, and only one more run to the potent Brockton offense. Meanwhile, the wheels fell off the cart for Woodbridge who could not find the plate after the second inning, allowing six base on balls, and a base clearing double to JT. Turner , to give Post 147 seven runs and plenty of breathing room. Rockland hitters could not get anything going after the third inning, but they did focus on error free baseball to secure the victory. Loughlin and catcher Nate Littman executed a great game plan after the second inning and the Rockland players made the plays when needed.
On The Positive; Brody Loughlin had 6 strike outs, and allowed on 3 runs. Sean Roche blasted another triple. Jonathan (JT) Turner had 3 RBI on a big double, and Andrew Elliott came in to pitch and closeout the game, getting 2 strike outs and 2 fly outs. Rockland with another No Error game.
