When one googles “old school chef owner operator,” a picture of Ed Reid and the Banner Irish Pub appears on screen. For years now, Ed has been plugging away at this ancient eatery that he has always seen as a diamond in the rough. From lobster tanks to ice cream cones, from prime rib dinners to fresh produce retail, from elegant high-end buffets to dime-store wings, Ed Reid has done it all –  and done it all well.  His 100-hour  work weeks have not gone unnoticed.  Ed has won the Best in Seafood award several times from the Patriot Ledger Readers Choice awards.  His huge  portions of  fish and chips are famous from Dublin to Duxbury.  It seems like the Banner is just now starting to catch on in full stride.

Recently, Ed has rolled out his midweek wonders; and they are taking Union Street by storm. On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday,  it is free billiards,  awesome crispy wings for two bits a piece, half-priced pizza and now, the Two Buck Chuck.  This is a beefy five-ounce Black Angus hamburg pattie, charbroiled to your liking and served on an old-fashioned buttery grilled bun. Toppings are extra but this is far and away the best burger value to hit Rockvegas since Chet Miller’s Tall House Burger.

Ed has recently added more seating and is about ready to open the outdoor Rockvegas vacation destination, The Paddy O.  This outdoor lounge area is fully equipped with plasma to Guinness and everything in between. They even allow smoking outside!

The Banner Irish Pub boasts some of the area’s best live entertainment and Rockland’s own Bartender Rookie of the Year, Jared Valanzola.  Valanzola never leaves you high and dry, whether it is a quiet Tuesday evening or packed house weekend night.

The Banner Irish Pub – World class pub grub for the common man

Now on the rail trail!

This weekend at the Pub will be the busiest of the year for the Banner. You may experience a longer wait than usual.  For Brenda and Eddy, Saint Patrick’s Day is like Lilly Mai’s New Year’s Eve at the China Plaza.

There will be fantastic entertainment all weekend long,  featuring  Drop Kick Murphy’s star fiddle player and singer, Aiofe Kelly.
