Quincy Yacht Club has closed due to damages from a 2-alarm fire on Feb. 10, 2012. I have been a member there for almost 25 years and have served as its Commodore in 1997. It is located at the end of Sea St., in the Houghs Neck section of Quincy, and is one of two yacht clubs claiming to be the oldest in the country. I am proud to say that my picture hangs in the hall along with all those who served as QYC’s Commodores, including John Quincy Adams, grandson of the President.

Club officials are unsure at this time when the building will reopen; and all locks have been changed for security.  All inquiries into club issues should be directed toward the House Committee and Executive Board.
