Chowder Booth Gets the Go-Ahead

November 11, 2012

For the sixth straight year, Pam Murphy and the Rockland Friends have secured the revenues necessary  to give every willing man, woman and child in Rockland  a hot cup of the famous “mediocre at best” clam chowder. Last year, more than a thousand cups of Boss Hog shucked bi-valve and potato white  stew were scooped into foam cups, alongside a pack of oyster crackers, and fed to the Rockland faithful who come out for the greatest night of the year, The Holiday Stroll.  This year, there will be several celebrity scoopers, including  Rockland favorite daughter, European professional basketball star, and Lady Bulldog legend, Keri “Special K” Flynn; Allan Ooka Chiocca; Delightful Debbie O’Brien; Mike Mauler Gilpin and his award winning Que and Half Men BBQ Team; Gentleman Jay Simpson; Uncle Jerry; Marvelous Mike Mullen, and several surprise guests. There may even be a Big Bill McCormack sighting!

The Rockland Harbor Master, Larry the Lion Ryan will be the manning the fire barrel this year, of course. Larry will burn through more than a half of a cord of fire wood in the legendary Fire Cage, keeping holiday revelers warm regardless of the weather.

Stunning Stephen Murphy will have his famous Atlantic Coffee Station up and running again at the chowder booth this year for the third straight year. Flavored hot coffees are handed out buy the hundreds by Stephen and his crew. recommends the Dad’s delight blend.  Ask for it by name. The Chowder Booth at the  Rockland Christmas Stroll will be better than ever!
