Rockland’s own lawn mower man, Bill Thomas, put the wrench down for a minute to take his son-in-law, Ed Westgate, fishing last week.  From Bill’s waterside Florida retreat known as the Bear Den, they pushed off shore in search of big bass on Bill’s pontoon boat. I’ve heard stories about big fish and plenty of them being landed aboard the SS Thomas for years now. Nowadays, through Facebook, I’ve been forwarded the evidence to prove these were not all just big fish stories.  The outing last week bagged the biggest bass in a quarter century of fishing the vast bodies of fresh water that surround the Bear Camp. A twenty-three inch nearly nine pound lunker large mouth was pulled aboard by Ed Westgate under the direction of Capt Bill.

Congratulations to the Lawn Mower Man of Rockland. We look forward to seeing you back on the corner of Myrtle street keeping us all in working lawn mowers and gas power equipment for the spring of 2013.
