Suffern, NY – On Thursday, October 12, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., a Unity Gathering in Support of Israel is scheduled to take place at the Ellipse in the Technology Center on the Rockland Community College (RCC) Campus. The event, presented by Hillel of Rockland, along with the Hillel Club and Anti-Discrimination Club of RCC, aims to bring together students, faculty, administrators, community members, and elected officials to express solidarity and support for Israel during a critical time.
The Unity Gathering will feature guest speakers, including State Senator Bill Weber, RCC alumnus and candidate for Rockland County Legislature, Jesse Malowitz, RCC President Dr. Lester Sandres Rápalo, Rockland Human Rights Commissioner Spencer Chiimbwe, RCC Hillel Club and Anti-Discrimination Club President Shaina Weinberg, Campus Minister Mike Ver Schneider, and Rabbi Dov Oliver, Director of the Center for Jewish Life at RCC.
The program includes a prayer for the Israeli Defense Force, candle lighting, inspirational songs, and an opportunity to discuss positive resolutions. Additionally, a collection will be held to support a local family who lost a father in the recent attacks.
The Unity Gathering seeks to provide a platform for individuals from various backgrounds to come together and demonstrate their support for Israel. It serves as an opportunity for dialogue and reflection on current events.
