ROCKLAND, NY – Senator Elijah Reichlin-Melnick was joined by members of 16 fire and EMS companies in Rockland to announce grants totaling over one million dollars that he secured for local first responders.
Senator Reichlin-Melnick said, “Rockland is so fortunate to have the tremendous dedication of volunteer first responders to help keep us all safe. Delivering state dollars to help first responders continue to serve our community is a top priority for me. My office works hard to reach out to organizations so they know about grant opportunities, and we help them navigate throughout the process successfully so they can receive this funding.”
The Senator presented symbolic checks which identified the projects being funded for each of the companies. The grants will pay for capital projects including new ambulances and fire trucks, updated emergency response equipment, and facility upgrades, among other purposes.
