COVID-19 Data Will Still Be Available On NYSDOH Site
New City, NY – Effective Friday, December 9th, 2022, the County of Rockland will retire the COVID-19 Hub landing page and Dashboards. Since 2020, the Hub and coronavirus dashboard served as an effective tool to communicate the status of the pandemic within Rockland County.
“When the pandemic began, we led the way in launching one of the first COVID-19 dashboards to keep Rockland residents informed of our local situation,” said County Executive Day.
At the onset of the pandemic, before vaccines and at-home testing was available, the dashboard played a critical role in stopping the spread. As we approach 2023, there is significantly less cases and risk of severe illness thanks to the wide availability of coronavirus vaccinations and treatments, allowing the County to retire this dashboard.
The labor-intensive process, which takes more than a full day to prepare and upload, is additionally duplicative of what will continue to be provided on the New York State Department of Health website. The move will enable the County to divert these resources to other health concerns as needed.
“I want to recognize our Planning Department and Health Department personnel who took on this difficult task at the onset of the pandemic,” said County Executive Day. “This dashboard was crucial in navigating our way through the pandemic and I thank both departments for their tireless work facilitating that.”
The New York State Department of Health has been and will continue to provide a variety of data and information on their dashboard, including but not limited to, trends in positive tests, circulating variants, vaccinations, and hospitalizations.
