Supervisor George Hoehmann and Councilmembers Donald Franchino, Frank Borelli, Mike Graziano, and Pat Carroll joined together this week at a Press Conference to call upon the New York State Thruway Authority to do a sound study and erect sound barriers along the Thruway in Clarkstown. Barriers exist in much of Rockland but are largely absent in the Clarkstown portion of the Thruway–especially in West Nyack and Central Nyack. The incredibly loud noise and pollution from the constant drone of traffic needs to be addressed.
Area residents joined Town officials at a Community Meeting that same day to express their concerns as well.
Thank you to Rev. Hasselbach and the Clarkstown Reformed Church for hosting the press conference and offering comments on the impact of noise to the neighborhood. Thank you to the West Nyack Fire Department for hosting the community meeting.
