New City, NY – Rockland County residents are encouraged to actively participate in shaping the future of the county by attending upcoming public workshops for the Countywide Comprehensive Plan update. County Executive Ed Day and the Rockland County Planning Department are hosting these workshops to gather community input on the county’s long-term vision for land use, development, and economic growth.
The Comprehensive Plan serves as a strategic guide for the county’s decisions on zoning, infrastructure, housing, and development over the coming decades. It plays a vital role in ensuring that future growth aligns with the needs and values of the community.
“These workshops offer a unique opportunity for residents to get involved in the planning process, voice their priorities, and help shape Rockland’s future,” said Day. “We want to hear from our residents about how they envision Rockland County’s growth and development, and how we can create a more sustainable, vibrant, and inclusive community.”
The upcoming workshops will allow attendees to:
- Learn about how the Comprehensive Plan will influence the county’s future development.
- Share their ideas, concerns, and priorities for inclusion in the Plan.
- Discuss their vision for the county’s land use, zoning, and economic development with neighbors and community leaders.
The first workshop is scheduled for Wednesday, May 21st, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the Palisades Mall in West Nyack, located on the 4th floor in the Adler Community Room.
Additional workshops will be held at various locations around the county:
- Wednesday, May 28th, at the Patriot Hills Senior & Community Center, Stony Point
- Thursday, May 29th, at the Rockland County Fire Training Center, Pomona
- Thursday, June 5th, at St. Thomas Aquinas College, Sparkill, Romano Student Alumni Center
