Nyack is lucky to be home to some amazing Acupuncturists to meet the needs of the health conscious surrounding community. Today we are spotlighting one specific Acupuncturist, Nancy A. Fisher L.Ac, owner of The Qi Center. Nancy was drawn to natural healing and preventive care, even as a child. She has a 30 year career as a dental hygienist under her belt and she is also an author of a book “Worms that Poop in My Mouth: Why I Need to Floss Everyday!” which you can be sure will make your kids finally enjoy flossing!
When her son experienced health issues, she went searching for a solution and fell in love with acupuncture, knowing instantly it was her new path. She learned that acupuncture is “a sophisticated, time-tested system requiring years of study—undergrad, graduate, post-grad, and often mentorships much like medical residencies. It’s not fringe; it’s foundational. Institutions like Memorial Sloan Kettering and Montefiore integrate acupuncture into cancer care for good reason. It works, and it works deeply.”
Nancy opened the Qi Center 23 years ago, and 14 years ago moved it to Nyack, with the desire to share this medicine of lasting wellness with others. “Nyack is such a vibrant and open-minded community—rich with eclectic healers and seekers. People come from near and far for what we offer. There’s a real sense of curiosity and possibility here, and I love being part of that.”
Five years ago, Nancy was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer. “That diagnosis transformed me. I began living this medicine in an entirely new way—not just practicing it, but using every tool I had to face the physical, emotional, and spiritual layers of healing. It’s deepened my understanding of what’s possible, even in the face of serious illness. I’ve learned to thrive, not just survive—and I now guide others through that same terrain.”
The ideal client for The Qi Center is anyone struggling with chronic illness, persistent pain, cancer, and especially anyone ready for change. Those with a willingness, curiosity, and a deep desire to live more fully can find profound healing here.
The Qi Center offers acupuncture, moxibustion, Chinese herbal medicine, functional nutrition, qigong, taichi, cupping, gua sha, guided imagery, and meditation. You can email Nancy at Nancyafisherlac@gmail.com and learn more at her website Nyackacupuncture.com.
