
New City, NY – Hospital Corpsman First Class Andrew V. Velikic, a Clarkstown High School South graduate and decorated U.S. Navy Sailor, was honored with a New York State Senate Proclamation for his exceptional service to the nation. The ceremony celebrated Velikic’s outstanding contributions and distinguished military career, recognizing his bravery, leadership, and commitment.
New York State Senator Bill Weber presented the proclamation, acknowledging Velikic’s remarkable achievements. “HM1 Velikic has consistently demonstrated courage and dedication, from providing lifesaving care in Afghanistan to leading his fellow Sailors and Marines aboard the USS Boxer,” said Weber. “His service exemplifies the very best of our country’s military.”
Throughout his career, Velikic has become a standout figure in the U.S. Navy, earning recognition for his leadership and exceptional performance. He was named the 2024 Pacific Fleet Sea Sailor of the Year and the Fleet Marine Force Independent Duty Corpsman of the Year, accolades that reflect his outstanding skills and commitment to his fellow servicemen and women.
Velikic’s service took him to the front lines in Afghanistan, where he provided critical medical care to fellow soldiers in the midst of combat.
