New City, NY – In a step toward enhancing security and combatting financial crimes in Rockland County, District Attorney Tom Walsh, Chief Assistant District Attorney Patrick Frawley, and Chief of Detectives Deirdre Smith met with members of the United States Secret Service on July 17, 2025, in New York City. The meeting, which included a tour of the Secret Service’s field office in Manhattan, laid the groundwork for a new partnership designed to bolster local law enforcement efforts.
During the visit, Walsh and his team had the opportunity to meet with Assistant Special Agent in Charge James McHale and Assistant to the Special Agent in Charge Christine Farber. The United States Secret Service’s mission is well-known for its high-profile duties, such as protecting the President, Vice-President, and visiting world leaders. However, the Secret Service is also deeply involved in safeguarding the integrity of U.S. currency, investigating counterfeit money, and addressing cyber and financial crimes that pose risks to the global economy.
“The meeting was incredibly productive and will greatly benefit the residents of Rockland County,” said Walsh. “We have fostered a partnership with the United States Secret Service that will allow for more effective investigations and intelligence sharing.”
One of the key outcomes of the meeting is the deployment of a detective from the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office to work directly with the U.S. Secret Service field office in Brooklyn. This collaborative effort will strengthen local crime-fighting initiatives, particularly those related to financial crimes and counterfeiting.
“This partnership marks a significant milestone for our office, as we look forward to assisting with investigations and intelligence gathering on behalf of Rockland County residents,” Walsh said.
By joining forces with the Secret Service, the Rockland District Attorney’s Office aims to leverage the federal agency’s expertise in tackling financial crimes, which have been growing concerns locally and nationally. The collaboration promises to enhance the safety and security of Rockland’s citizens by combining resources, intelligence, and expertise from both law enforcement agencies.
