Stony Point, NY – – A 62-year-old Stony Point resident was arrested on Thursday afternoon following an alleged assault at a local residential complex.
According to the Stony Point Police Department, officers responded at approximately 2:10 PM to reports of an assault in progress. Upon arrival, officers spoke with a female victim who stated that John Nelson had punched her in the chest with a closed fist, causing pain and soreness.
Nelson was taken into custody, transported to the Stony Point Police Department for processing, and subsequently released with an appearance ticket. He is scheduled to appear in Stony Point Justice Court on September 18, 2025, at 1:30 PM.
The defendant faces charges of third-degree assault and second-degree harassment. Police remind residents to report any suspicious or violent behavior promptly.
