North Rockland, NY – Stony Point police have arrested a Fieldstone Middle School student following a months-long sextortion investigation that authorities say underscores both the dangers young people face online and the courage of students who came forward.
The investigation began in February 2025, after several students reported to their School Resource Officer and school administrators that they were being coerced online. Backed by their parents, the students’ decision to speak up enabled police to launch a full investigation.
According to the Stony Point Police Department, the case was pursued in collaboration with the North Rockland Central School District, the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office Special Victims Unit, the office’s Electronics Detection K9 team, the Haverstraw Police Department, and the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office Computer Crimes and Intelligence Divisions.
So far, six victims have come forward, but investigators believe the number could be far higher—potentially in the hundreds. Police are urging any students or parents with information to step forward.
“This case highlights the serious risks our children face in the digital world and the importance of awareness, communication, and community support,” the department said in a statement.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Youth Officer Detective Andrew Kryger at 845-786-2422.
