FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Nyack, March 30, 2023. Hudson Valley residents and visitors have nominated 75 Nyack businesses and institutions for top honors in Hudson Valley magazine’s ‘Best of the Hudson Valley’ poll. Some of the establishments are nominated in multiple categories, so the number of nominations totals at 90.
The survey canvasses Hudson Valley business patrons and visitors on their top choices among hundreds of establishments in 13 categories — ranging from food, shopping and arts/leisure, to kids, pets, weddings, health/beauty and home/garden.
With ‘readers’ ballot’ nominations complete, the elimination round is now live and closes on April 6 at 5:00 pm.
Friends, families and business supporters from Rockland and beyond are encouraged to vote for their Nyack favorites. An alphabetical listing of the Nyack nominees is here: welovenyack.com/best
“It’s nothing short of amazing that Nyack, a village of just 7,000 people, has 90 nominations in the ‘Best Of’ poll,” said Joe Rand, Nyack Deputy Mayor and Village Trustee. “It’s a testament to the energy and creativity this community brings to the Hudson valley.”
Nyack Village itself has garnered several nominations, including “most walkable neighborhood.” Rockland Community College’s Hospitality and Culinary Arts Center, a 2022 winner for best cooking classes, has two nominations for the 2023 competition.
Notably, Nyack makes a showing in virtually all of the 13 categories, each of which includes several subsets. As an example, the “food” category includes over 120 opportunities to vote – for, say, best chicken wings, Chinese cuisine, family food, farm-to-table, classic French, soul food and so on.
Voters must cast their ballots for at least five nominations in order for their votes to be counted. There is no upward limit on the number of votes that can be cast, although voters will be blocked if they attempt to vote more than once for any given business in a given category.
Overall, more than 1,300 Hudson valley businesses and institutions are competing in the elimination round. The total number of winners will top 450.
“Nyack has scored well in past polls,” said Nyack Mayor Don Hammond. “We’re expecting to see even more winners this year.”
Final winners in each category will be announced in the July Best Of Hudson Valley® issue, on newsstands in mid-June. A celebration for winners will be held at City Winery in Montgomery, NY on September 20, 2023. (See Best Of Hudson Valley® Party.)
“Nyack and the Hudson Valley are making a mark on the map for tourists from across the US and abroad,” added Thomas Schneck, President, Visit Nyack, Inc. “The Best Of” poll is a a tribute to our vibrant local business community, but also a clear vote of confidence for visitors looking for great travel experiences.”
