BLAUVELT, NY — The 4th annual WorkSmart Business Bootcamp will be held Wednesday, April 29, at 8:30 a.m. at Dominican University, inside the Lawrence Room at Rosary Hall. The morning program is geared toward Rockland County’s many startup, SMB and veteran business owners – and will feature a keynote address by billionaire businessman John Catsimatidis, owner of Red Apple Media Group and WABC Radio.
Catsimatidis, whose business interests include Red Apple Media Group, Gristedes, D’Agostino supermarkets, real estate, energy and media, will speak on expiences that he chronicles in his recent book, How Far Do You Want to Go?: Lessons from a Common-Sense Billionaire.
The book chronicles his rise from working in a grocery store to building a diversified business empire that now includes WABC Radio, and much more.
In a phone call with Rockland News President Tom Ossa ahead of the event, Catsimatidis said he is looking forward to speaking with local business owners and answering questions.
“I look forward to Wednesday morning,” Catsimatidis said. “I enjoy talking to people, and I look forward to taking some of your questions after I speak. I look forward to telling you about the life of being successful – and what you have to do to be successful.”
The event comes after Red Apple Media’s recent purchase of WRCR 1700 AM, Rockland County’s longtime local AM radio station. WRCR stopped broadcasting its local programming last year, with WABC programming taking over the AM 1700 frequency. WABC programming is currently simulcasting onto AM 1700.
Tickets for the WorkSmart event are $29.99 and include a breakfast buffet from 8:30 to 9 a.m., Catsimatidis’ keynote at 9:15 a.m., three TED-style talks from local business authors and professionals, speed networking, and additional free learning materials for attendees.
Guests are asked to be seated by 9:05 a.m. for the keynote introduction and are encouraged to bring business cards and dress professionally.
The bootcamp is expected to conclude around noon. More information is available at WorkSmartNY.com, and tickets may be purchased through Eventbrite at worksmart26.eventbrite.com. Attendees may use coupon code ROCKLANDNEWS for $10 off, reducing the ticket price to $19.99.
