MONTGOMERY, N.Y. — Hundreds of nonprofit organizations across the Hudson Valley are preparing to participate in the 11th annual Hudson Valley Gives online fundraising campaign scheduled for May 20.
Organized by the Community Foundation of Orange, Sullivan & Rockland, the 24-hour online giving event supports charitable organizations throughout the region and has raised more than $5.5 million since its launch 11 years ago, according to organizers.
This year, 275 nonprofit organizations have registered to participate, representing a wide range of causes including animal welfare, arts and culture, emergency services, libraries, museums, environmental preservation, food assistance, health care, youth programs and veterans services.
Officials said all donations made during the event are deposited directly into the participating organizations’ bank accounts. Nonprofits will also have opportunities to compete for additional cash and in-kind prizes funded by corporate sponsors.
“We are honored to provide nonprofits throughout the region with an innovative way to reach donors who care about their causes and welcome the chance to support them with the ease of technology,” said Elizabeth Rowley in a statement.
Rowley said the event also helps organizations expand their visibility through social media outreach and online marketing efforts.
Participating nonprofits are located in Orange, Ulster, Dutchess, Sullivan, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties. Organizers said the fundraising event is designed to connect charities with new donors while encouraging continued community support.
Throughout the day, sponsors will award prizes tied to fundraising contests and online engagement efforts. The prize money will go directly to the nonprofit organizations rather than individual donors.
A public Celebration of Success event is also planned for May 20 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Newburgh Brewing Company, where attendees can follow prize announcements and support participating organizations.
Sponsors for this year’s event include CDPHP, Dyson Foundation, Resorts World Catskills, Walden Savings Bank, Crystal Run Healthcare, Optum, M&T Bank and Central Hudson Gas & Electric, among others.
More information about the event is available at Hudson Valley Gives.
