Get ready for an electrifying showcase of innovation and teamwork as high school students from across the globe gather for the FIRST Robotics Competition Hudson Valley Regional Event. From March 7th to March 9th, over 1,000 students from New York, the UK, and Turkey will converge at Rockland Community College’s Eugene Levy Fieldhouse for an action-packed competition.
What to Expect:
- Team Lineup: Forty-eight teams, including local competitors from lower Hudson Valley high schools and teams from New York City and Long Island, will put their engineering skills to the test. Among the local participants are Brewster, Clarkstown North, Clarkstown South, Nanuet, and North Rockland high schools, to name a few.
- Opening Ceremonies: The event kicks off with opening ceremonies on Friday, March 8th, featuring special guests from FIRST and local business leaders. Be there to witness the excitement as the competition officially begins.
- Competition Highlights: Throughout the event, teams will compete for regional awards and a chance to advance to the prestigious FIRST Championship in Houston, Texas. The competition showcases the power of collaboration, innovation, and determination among students and mentors.
- CRESCENDOSM: As part of the 2024 FIRST IN SHOWSM season, teams will explore the intersection of arts and STEM through creative designs and engineering solutions. Witness firsthand how creativity and innovation come together to inspire the next generation of problem-solvers.
Event Schedule:
- Thursday, March 7th: Robot testing and inspection, practice matches, and student interviews.
- Friday, March 8th: Opening ceremonies, qualification matches, and a college and career fair promoting STEM education.
- Saturday, March 9th: More qualification and playoff matches, culminating in an awards ceremony to recognize outstanding achievements.
