Rockland residents and businesses should prepare for a significant, approved construction on Route 9W starting August 1, 2024. The Champlain Hudson Power Express (CHPE) Project involves the installation of the “Hudson River Cable”, a major project approved by the New York State Public Service Commission on June 20, 2024. This project will primarily affect the main 9w corridor that runs through the Towns of Stony Point, Haverstraw and Clarkstown.
Project Overview
Construction Schedule and Impact
To ensure timely and efficient installation, CHPE construction is planned to occur around the clock: 24 hours a day, seven days a week. CHPE also publicly stated that they will implement noise and lighting mitigation measures to minimize the impact on nearby residents and sensitive receptors.
Despite these efforts, some temporary disruptions are inevitable.
For any questions regarding the project, CHPE has established a toll-free number: 1-800-991-CHPE (2473). Inquiries can also be directed to publicoutreach@chpexpress.com or by mail to Molly Hollister at WSP USA, One Pennsylvania Plaza, New York, NY 10119.
