We are halfway through the summer of 2024, and what a season it has been! Our Day Camp and Playground Program will conclude on August 9th, but the pool remains open until Labor Day, so there’s still plenty of time for summer fun.
If you haven’t had the chance to attend one of our summer concerts yet, don’t miss out on the final two performances! The Mighty Spectrum Band will take the stage on August 7th, followed by Kickin’ Nash on August 14th. Both concerts are at Riverfront Park and begin at 7 pm. It’s a perfect way to enjoy the beautiful evenings with family and friends.
Our Building Department has been diligently working to maintain the integrity of our community by aggressively pursuing illegal housing construction. We recently secured a $12k judgment against a builder who ignored proper permits and stop work orders. This is a testament to our commitment to ensuring safe and lawful development within Stony Point.
You may have observed the initial stages of construction related to the CHPE (Champlain Hudson Power Express) project. Permitted by NYS/DOT, this project will significantly impact the 9W corridor from Stony Point to Congers in the coming months. As of this newsletter, we have not received a construction timeline. Rest assured, I will keep you updated with relevant information through our town website and Facebook page as soon as it becomes available.
Lastly, we celebrated the retirement of Pete Kassel on June 29th. Pete has dedicated 25 years to our Parks Department, and his efforts have given us the beautiful landscaping in our town parks and at Town Hall. We wish Pete all the best in his well-deserved retirement.
Enjoy the rest of your summer, and thank you for being a part of what makes Stony Point such a wonderful place to live.
Warm regards, Jim Monaghan, Stony Point Town Supervisor
