“The Department of Environmental Conservation’s determination that Danskammer is in violation of New York’s Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act is not surprising, given Commissioner Seggos’ previous remarks about the project.
“As I’ve consistently stated, the law is the law: any new project must comply with the state’s new climate standards. If a project is non-compliant, it cannot proceed, simple as that.
“I stand ready to partner with local communities, building trades, and environmental stakeholders to put forward a project for the existing Danskammer site that both aligns with New York’s climate laws and serves the needs of our area.”
