RCC Kicks Off New Alumni Series

April 15, 2022  •  By helpdesk1

ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. (April 15, 2022) – Rockland Community College kicked off a new series last week when they welcomed Alumnus Bruce Kreutzer to the Campus. The new series “Life After the Rock! Conversations with Distinguished Alumni,” will focus on casual Q&A sessions with the alumni, students, faculty, and general public.

Kreutzer, a 1970 graduate of RCC and 1968 graduate of Pearl River High School, is now an Assistant Coach with the NBA Team the Orlando Magic. He served as an assistant coach at Queens University and was head coach at Garinger High School where he won the 4A Boys State High School title in 1989 and then served as head coach at Massanutten Military Academy leading his team to a No. 9 ranking nationally in 2006. He then joined former Charlotte Hornets assistant coach and four-time NBA All-Star Mark Price to form the Mark Price Shooting Lab in Atlanta where he served as lead shooting instructor and play development coach. He also served as a shooting consultant for the NBA D-League and Philadelphia 76ers. He has been an assistant coach with Orlando Magic since 2018 where he serves as a shooting coach. He is partly credited with helping Kemba Walker transform into a strong shooter. According to the Orlando Magic website, “his continued presence with the team gives the young players a measure of consistency as they continue to work on improving their shooting.”

Kreutzer was inducted into the Pearl River High School Sports Hall of Fame on April 9th. He was honored for having played all-county basketball at Pearl River and his position as an NCAA Division II Final Four Coach and an NBA Assistant Coach. He was joined by his wife Nancy who also graduated from Pearl River High School and Rockland Community College.

After the Life After the Rock Q&A session, he took a tour of the campus and stopped at the Fieldhouse to give Xavier Kistoo-Miles RCC’s star basketball player, a few shooting pointers.
