STONY POINT, NY — Mike & Tom in the morning on AM Rockland used today’s show to deliver a simple message to listeners: reach out with questions, concerns, events and ideas, and Rockland News will work to follow up.
The hosts opened the program by explaining that their regular Wednesday timing had shifted because they were attending an RBE gathering, which they identified on air as the Rockland Business Exchange, a long-running county networking organization. From there, the conversation turned into a broader appeal for public participation in local coverage.
Tom said the goal is to hear directly from residents who are trying to find services, promote events or point attention to an issue in their neighborhood. Mike echoed that point, telling listeners the show is intended to reflect what Rockland residents want covered, not simply what the hosts choose on their own.
Throughout the segment, the hosts repeatedly directed listeners to RocklandNews.com/alert, framing it as a place where people can submit news tips, local questions and requests for coverage. They described the project as community-centered and said Rockland News wants to help connect residents with information and with local resources.
Mike and Tom also cited the growth of their audience as evidence that the model is gaining traction. On air, they said episodes are drawing roughly 1,000 to 2,000 views apiece, while Rockland News published about 600 stories last year, generating roughly 590,000 page views and 3.6 million social views. Those numbers were presented as a sign that local audiences are engaging with county-focused reporting and community information.
