CLARKSTOWN, N.Y. — A couple from the United Kingdom made a stop in Clarkstown this week as part of an unusual travel tradition centered around places that share their last name.
Town Supervisor George Hoehmann and Community Officer Robinson welcomed Ed and Vivian Clark, who traveled from the U.K. during a journey across the United States visiting towns and cities with “Clark” in their names.
According to town officials, the couple was especially surprised to discover Clarkstown during their travels and added the Rockland County community to their growing list of destinations.
To commemorate the visit, Hoehmann and members of the Clarkstown Police Department presented the couple with a challenge coin. In return, the Clarks shared shortbread cookies from the U.K. with local officials.
Town officials described the visit as a lighthearted and unique moment that highlighted the community’s hospitality and international connection.
The Clarks are continuing their travels across the United States as they seek out more communities tied to their family name.
