October 31, 2024  •  By helpdesk1

Date: Saturday, November 2
Time: 1:00 – 3:00 pm
Location: Old Stone Meeting House, 347 N. Broadway (In-Person) & Zoom (Virtual Option)

Residents are invited to a pivotal community meeting on Saturday, November 2, to discuss the future of the Haring House, a historic structure within River Hook: The Hester Haring Cason Preserve. Since its acquisition, the future of this landmark has sparked local interest, with many in the community eager to see it preserved and repurposed for public benefit. The meeting will address the building’s current condition, financial considerations, potential uses, and the value it brings to Nyack.

The forum will be led by Mayor Karen Tarapata and Daphna Blatt, a board member of the Friends of River Hook, who will guide the discussion on why it is time for this conversation. Attendees will have the opportunity to share their thoughts on the Haring House’s role in the context of the broader preserve, exploring various options for its potential uses and community impact. Together, they hope to brainstorm solutions that honor the building’s historical significance while enriching the public experience at River Hook.

Meeting Options: In-Person & Zoom

The discussion will be held at the Old Stone Meeting House, located at 347 N. Broadway. Due to limited seating at the venue, community members are encouraged to join via Zoom, which will allow for both participation and online commentary.
