‘Concessions’ Returns to Lafayette Theatre for Suffern Homecoming Screening and Cast Q&A

October 7, 2026  •  By helpdesk1

Independent feature filmed largely inside Suffern’s historic Lafayette Theatre returns October 8 ahead of its theatrical release

SUFFERN, N.Y. — The independent feature film Concessions will return to the Lafayette Theatre in Suffern on Thursday, October 8, for a special homecoming screening featuring a live organ pre-show and a post-film discussion with the director and members of the cast.

Much of Concessions was filmed inside the historic Lafayette Theatre, giving the screening a direct connection to the Rockland County community. Local residents and Lafayette patrons also participated in the production as extras.

The evening will begin at 6:30 p.m. with Dave Kopp performing a specially selected pre-show program on the Lafayette Theatre’s Ben Hall Memorial Wurlitzer Organ. The film is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

Following the approximately 90-minute feature, Lafayette Theatre owner Ari Benmosche will moderate a question-and-answer session with writer and director Mas Bouzidi and members of the film’s cast. The discussion is expected to include details about the production and the experience of filming at the Lafayette.

The event comes after the film’s sold-out New York premiere and several days before its scheduled October 14 theatrical release in select theaters nationwide.

Concessions follows a group of employees, outcasts and other characters whose lives intersect during the final day of the fictional Royal Alamo Cinema. The story centers on themes of rejection, redemption and fate as the theater prepares to close.

The film is not yet rated.

For the Suffern screening, the connection between the fictional closing movie theater and the real-life Lafayette Theatre provides an additional local element. The Lafayette, located at 97 Lafayette Avenue, has remained a fixture in downtown Suffern while continuing to show films and host special cinema-related events.

After the screening and Q&A, local residents who appeared as extras in the movie will be invited to gather beneath the Lafayette Theatre marquee for a commemorative group photograph marking their involvement in the production.
