NEW CITY, N.Y. — Rockland County officials have announced the launch of the Global Rhythms Summer Festival, a countywide cultural celebration aimed at attracting visitors and boosting local economic activity during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The multi-event festival will feature live entertainment, food, cultural activities and public match-viewing experiences in several downtown communities across Rockland County this summer.
County Executive Ed Day said the initiative is part of a broader effort to strengthen the local economy through tourism and support small businesses throughout the county.
“Attracting tourism dollars keeps our local economy strong and generates revenue that ultimately reduces the financial burden on Rockland’s residents,” Day said in a statement. He added that tourism-generated sales taxes help offset the cost of county services.
According to county officials, the festival is designed to capitalize on the expected influx of domestic and international visitors traveling throughout the New York metropolitan region during the World Cup, one of the world’s most-watched sporting events.
Economic Development Director Jenna Nazario said the series will showcase Rockland’s local businesses, neighborhoods and cultural diversity while encouraging visitors to explore the county’s downtown districts.
The festival is being produced in partnership with Market NY and will include interactive workshops, art exhibits, sports-themed activities and fan zones featuring large screens for live match viewing.
Officials said the events are intended to draw attention to Rockland County’s riverfront communities, international dining scene, boutique shopping and outdoor attractions.
Festival events are currently scheduled for:
• June 27 in Pearl River
• July 5 in Nyack
• July 19 in Nanuet
County officials also said a fourth event is tentatively planned for June 13 in Suffern, although details have not yet been finalized.
The Global Rhythms Summer Festival is part of the county’s broader tourism and economic development strategy focused on increasing visitor spending, supporting downtown business corridors and generating additional local revenue.
