Rockland County, NY – Rockland Community College (RCC) has announced the appointment of Dr. William P. Mullaney as the institution’s ninth president. The selection was confirmed by the RCC Board of Trustees at a special meeting on December 2, 2024, and subsequently approved by the State University of New York (SUNY) on December 17, 2024.
“We are excited to welcome Dr. Mullaney to Rockland Community College as our ninth president,” said L’Tanya M. Watkins, Esq., Chair of the RCC Board of Trustees. “His impressive academic credentials, deep commitment to equity, and understanding of the significance of community engagement align perfectly with our goals for the college. We look forward to seeing his vision come to life.”
Dr. Mullaney, who most recently served as president of SUNY Corning Community College (SUNY CCC), brings extensive leadership experience to RCC. At SUNY CCC, he implemented equity-focused initiatives, such as the college’s first Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Plan, and oversaw a Strategic Enrollment Management Plan that resulted in the first enrollment increase in over a decade.
“Rockland Community College is an exceptional institution, and I am deeply honored to serve as its ninth president,” said Dr. Mullaney. “I look forward to collaborating with the Board, faculty, staff, and community leaders to build on the college’s proud legacy while ensuring that our students have the tools, opportunities, and support they need to succeed.”
Dr. Mullaney’s track record includes increasing graduation rates, expanding academic programs in high-demand fields, and strengthening workforce development partnerships. His leadership extends nationally, having represented community colleges at a 2024 White House roundtable advocating for their role in the U.S. workforce.
