Rockland County, NY – Former Senator Elijah Reichlin-Melnick (D-Rockland) has reported a remarkable fundraising achievement in his 2024 State Senate campaign. According to the January 2024 periodic campaign filing, Reichlin-Melnick has raised over $77,000, surpassing the incumbent Republican Bill Weber’s fundraising efforts by 28%. In just seven months since launching his 2024 campaign, Reichlin-Melnick has amassed over $116,000 from more than 450 donors. Notably, nearly 387 of these donors reside within the 38th Senate district, making it the campaign with the highest number of in-district contributions among New York state senate candidates in the 2024 campaign cycle.
“Thanks to this strong grassroots support, Reichlin-Melnick is on pace to easily qualify for New York State’s new Public Campaign Financing Program, and the campaign estimates that he has already qualified for over $298,000 in matching funds.”
“Moving forward, Reichlin-Melnick has $78,000 cash on hand, which is 42% more than his opponent Bill Weber. Weber has only $45,000 on hand and has loaned his campaign $42,000 which must be repaid.”
“We’ve continued to demonstrate tremendously strong grassroots support from across Rockland County,” said former Senator Elijah Reichlin Melnick. “I’m so grateful to the hundreds of voters who have donated to support our vision of always putting Rockland first and making sure that our county and state works for everyone, not just the wealthy and well-connected.”
Elijah Reichlin-Melnick was elected to the State Senate in 2020 and during the 2021-22 legislative session was the most productive first term senator of either party, with 90 bills he had introduced passing the State Senate.
The 38th State Senate District includes four of the five towns in Rockland County: Clarkstown, Haverstraw, Orangetown, and Ramapo.
