Here at the Parks & Recreation department, we’re counting the days until summer when we can take advantage of the exciting new additions to our town facilities as well as new activities and services. Here’s what’s in store:
New Playground Equipment: The Town has invested $230,000 in new playground equipment in 2022, and we are nearing completion of those projects. We’re putting the finishing touches on the new playground at Veterans Memorial Park and have upgraded playground equipment at the Town Pool as well as Riverfront Park, Clark
Park, Charles Eccher (Lowland) Park, Heights Road Park, and Laurel Park. Splash pad at Charles Eccher Park: We’re confident the kids will love the brand-new splash pad at Charles Eccher (Lowland) Park! Splash pads are a fun way for the little ones to cool off from the hot sun, as well as a safe, easy way to enjoy water play. The bid process is winding down and we anticipate starting construction and completing installation by the end of June—just in time for the summer months.
Four pickleball courts at Veterans Memorial Park: We’ll be breaking ground this summer on the construction of four pickleball courts at Veterans Memorial Park. The craze that has taken over the nation is arriving in Stony Point by popular demand! We know our residents are looking forward to being able to “dink” and “drop” against their pickleball opponents right here in town. The construction of the courts are being completed with grant monies received from Rockland County as part of the American Rescue Plan Act.
