Historic Old Stone Meeting House Retrofitted with Latest Technology for Clean Heating & Cooling

February 29, 2024  •  By helpdesk1

Residents of Upper Nyack are encouraged to discover the recent advancements at the historic Old Stone Meeting House, a focal point of our community’s heritage. Renowned for its significance in hosting village meetings and concerts, the Old Stone Meeting House has undergone a transformative retrofit in recent years, introducing a cutting-edge heating and cooling system designed to enhance sustainability and reduce energy consumption.

Efficient Heating and Cooling: Constructed in 1813, the Old Stone Meeting House now boasts a state-of-the-art air source heat pump, offering clean heat and air conditioning to its interior spaces. This innovative technology leverages ambient heat from the outdoor environment during winter, compressing it to provide efficient heating indoors. Similarly, during summer, the system captures indoor heat and expels it outside, ensuring a comfortable cooling experience.

Community Benefits: This modernization initiative brings numerous advantages to the community:

  • Improved comfort levels indoors
  • Reduced operational costs
  • Lower carbon emissions
  • Environmental stewardship

Joining the Movement: Residents are encouraged to explore the benefits of air source heat pumps for their own properties. To learn more or inquire about options, individuals can contact Frankie Lede, Community Energy Advisor, at fl447@cornell.edu or 845-605-0580. Alternatively, visit the Mid-Hudson Regional Clean Energy Hub for further assistance.
