Blauvelt, NY – Rockland County seniors are gearing up for a day of fun, fitness, and community as Meals on Wheels Rockland hosts its much-anticipated Senior Boot Camp on March 27, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM at the Dominican University Hennessy Center in Blauvelt.
The annual event, originally launched in 2012 and held until 2019, returned last year following a hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year’s gathering is expected to welcome over 150 seniors from Meals on Wheels centers across Clarkstown-Pearl River, Nyack, Orangetown, Ramapo, and the newly added Haverstraw center.
A Day Packed with Activities and Entertainment
Participants will engage in a variety of interactive games and challenges, including balloon volley, memory matching, axe throwing, and even a human slot machine. The event will also feature live entertainment from The Florian Schantz Jazz Combo and a special appearance by the West Point Color Guard. Attendees will enjoy breakfast and lunch, as well as opportunities to explore offerings from vendors throughout the day.
In a unique twist, seniors will also team up with students and student-athletes from Dominican University for friendly competitions, reinforcing the importance of intergenerational engagement. Research has shown that social interaction between younger and older generations helps combat isolation and loneliness among seniors while fostering a stronger sense of community.
Community Sponsors and Support
The success of the Senior Boot Camp would not be possible without generous sponsorships.
“This event would not be possible without our generous sponsors. For our Seniors, the camaraderie, good times, and memories made this day are unmatched,” said Kevin Hardy, President and CEO of Meals on Wheels Rockland.
Current sponsors include:
