New City Man Arrested for Possession of Ghost Gun

April 8, 2025  •  By helpdesk1

New City, NY – A months-long investigation by the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force resulted in the arrest of Charles Breslow, 24, of New City, NY, for possessing an illegal “ghost gun.” The arrest was made after a search warrant was executed at Breslow’s home on April 7, 2025.

Ghost guns, untraceable and un-serialized firearms, have raised significant concerns among law enforcement due to their potential for misuse. These guns are assembled using components purchased separately, either as a kit or individual pieces. Despite lacking serial numbers, ghost guns are fully functional and as lethal as legally purchased firearms. During the search of Breslow’s residence, authorities discovered a loaded 9mm ghost gun, along with several high-capacity magazines.

Breslow faces multiple charges, including Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree (for possession of the two high-capacity magazines), Criminal Possession of a Firearm, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree. He was arraigned in Clarkstown Justice Court and remanded to Rockland County Jail on $25,000 bail.

Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh, II, expressed his commitment to combating the presence of illegal firearms in the community. “My office is dedicated to removing ghost guns and other illegal firearms from our streets. These weapons pose a significant risk, and we will continue to work with law enforcement to protect the residents of Rockland County,” said DA Walsh.

The investigation was carried out by the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force, with assistance from the Westchester County Police Department Narcotics Unit and the Clarkstown Police Department.

It is important to note that a criminal complaint is merely an accusation, and Breslow is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
