In New City, NY, the Rockland County Commission on Human Rights is inviting nominations for individuals to be honored in the Rockland County Civil & Human Rights Hall of Fame. This initiative, established in 2003 during the commemoration of 40 years of existence, seeks nominations of local individuals who have demonstrated significant personal dedication to advancing Civil and Human Rights in Rockland County. The primary mission of the Rockland County Civil/Human Rights Hall of Fame is to acknowledge individuals who exemplify the following criteria:

Notable Achievement
Personal Sacrifice
Lasting Impact
Other Factors
Nominees for the Hall of Fame are put forward by the community and chosen by a panel of community leaders, which may include members of the Rockland County Human Rights office.
Requirements for Civil/Human Rights Hall of Fame Nominations:
Submission of a typed narrative (not exceeding 350 words) outlining the nominee’s community achievements, accomplishments, and contributions to Human/Civil Rights in Rockland County.
The narrative should encompass information about the nominee’s efforts to combat discrimination, as well as their contributions to Human or Civil Rights in Rockland County through exceptional leadership, advocacy for equality through actions, words, and deeds, outstanding achievements, and accomplishments within the Civil/Human Rights sphere.
While supporting documentation such as photos, films, C.D.s, or books is encouraged and welcomed, it is not mandatory. Please refrain from submitting originals, as they will not be returned.
Submission of a completed official Nomination Form, along with three (3) Letters of Support that explain why the nominee deserves consideration for induction into the “Hall of Fame.” Self-nominations will not be considered.
The deadline for submission is January 31, 2024, at 5:00 PM.
