One year ago, the Rockland Community Power program launched in Orangetown, along with five other Rockland communities. We can be proud that Orangetown was among the leaders in kicking off this innovative energy program in Rockland County. Through this program, residents may purchase their electricity at low, fixed rates and with no contracts. As we kick off our second year of the Rockland Community Power program, here’s what we’ve accomplished together so far:
- Through this program, Orangetown residents saved $851,305 on electric bills, relative to Orange & Rockland rates. This comes at a time when energy costs have been steadily rising.
- Residents may enroll in either ‘standard energy’ or in 100% renewable energy, both at low, fixed rates.
- 107 Orangetown households enrolled in the Community Solar program, supporting new solar projects and saving close to 10% savings on electric bills.
- Through the Giving Back program, $5,350 was donated to the Rockland Community Foundation COVID-19 Relief Fund.
- Over 20,000 Rockland households switched to renewable energy through the program.
- The program provides strong consumer protection: no contracts, no exit fees, guaranteed rates.
If you did not enroll in the program earlier and would like to do so now, you can always enroll or learn more by calling our helpline at 845 859-9099 (select Option 1) or online at www.RocklandCommunityPower.com. The helpline is available Monday to Friday, 9 to 5.
