Senior Activity Center members are gearing up for this exciting event, set to take place from 10:00 am to 1:30 pm at the Dominican University Hennessy Center in Blauvelt, NY.

Originally launched in 2012 and running annually until 2019, Senior Boot Camp is making its triumphant post-COVID comeback. Over 120 Meals on Wheels Senior Activity Center participants from Clarkstown-Pearl River, Nyack, Orangetown, and Ramapo are expected to attend.

Seniors will engage in ten exciting events, including cup stacking, a duck memory game, soccer kicking, flickin’ chicken, and a traditional shell game. Senior Boot Camp aims to foster camaraderie among Senior Activity Center members, promote physical and mental exercise, and provide an opportunity for friendly competition and fun. The event will conclude with a performance by The Music Makers, an all-Senior musical group, and attendees can look forward to some surprise activities.

Moreover, 28 vendors offering services related to senior needs will be present at the event. Meals on Wheels Rockland extends its gratitude to its Platinum and Gold Sponsors, including Jessica Kiely, PC, Estate Planning & Elder Law, The Esplanade at Palisades, Emerald Medicare, WellCare of New York Inc., Montefiore Nyack, and The Willows at Ramapo Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, for their support.

Partnering with Dominican University, Meals on Wheels Rockland aims to facilitate intergenerational interactions by having seniors participate in challenges alongside university students and student athletes. Such interactions strengthen community bonds and help combat feelings of isolation and loneliness among older adults.

Dominican University New York Launches Search for Its Next President

Orangeburg, NY – Dominican University New York has officially commenced the search for its next president. The University is actively soliciting interested candidates to apply following the establishment of a Presidential Search and Screening Committee and the engagement of professional search firm, AGB Search.

Furthermore, Dominican University has developed a webpage containing links to a Presidential Search Profile, a search timeline, and instructions for applying for the position.

According to Trustee John F.M. Flynn, Ph.D., Chair of the Presidential Search and Screening Committee, “The Presidential Search Profile will guide the search and was drafted with information gathered from Listening Sessions hosted by AGB consultants and a community survey. As described in the profile, our ideal candidate will model servant leadership, be emotionally intelligent, culturally competent, inspiring, collaborative, and a visionary leader.”
