Police Seeking Suspect in Fatal Hit-and-Run, Haverstraw Man Killed

An 82 year-old Haverstraw man was killed yesterday, allegedly by a hit-and-run driver as the man was crossing Route 9W near Fairmount Avenue. The incident took place around 7 Tuesday morning near New Main Street. Juan Alberto Germonsen reportedly lived at the Green Hills Home for Adults nearby. He was found lying in the roadway, rushed to the hospital, and later pronounced dead. Police continue their search for the driver. The suspect’s vehicle is a silver or white Ford Explorer with dark rims, a moonroof, and should have damage to passenger side window and front bumper.
