| Scam alert! Be aware of telephone scammers impersonating Law Enforcement. Law enforcement officers will not call out of the blue requesting personal information, and they will not demand money. Scammers can manipulate CALLER ID, and calls may falsely appear to come from a legitimate law enforcement or government agency. If you receive a phone call, email or text message instructing you to purchase a prepaid merchanted gift card/debit card, cryptocurrency, bank wire transfer, or money order to pay Law enforcement for bail, or to make the charges “go away”, just hang up, it’s a scam. |
