An old railroad track that’s no longer in use could become a rail-trail and provide much-needed relief from the perils of walking along the very busy and dangerous Route 59 in the town of Ramapo. Supervisor Michael Specht says the town met with some folks who used to live in Airmont who brought the idea to the town’s attention a few weeks ago…
Specht says the trail would start at Spook Rock Road on the north side of 59, go about 3 1/2 miles through Airmont and Ramapo and end near South Myrtle and Commerce Streets in Spring Valley. A petition to help show support for the rail-trail has been posted to Change.org.
