Rockland County, NY – The Rockland Community College (RCC) Board of Trustees has announced the appointment of Dr. Scott J. Kalicki as the new Officer in Charge, effective Monday, January 13, 2025. Kalicki will succeed Dr. Beth A. Coyle, who is retiring after serving in the role since June 2024. This leadership transition will prepare the college for the arrival of Dr. William P. Mullaney, who will assume the position of RCC’s 9th president in June 2025.
The appointment was officially approved during the Board of Trustees meeting on Tuesday, January 7, 2025.
Kalicki brings a wealth of experience to RCC, with over 40 years in higher education leadership. His background includes serving as president or interim president at three community colleges and holding key administrative roles at both two- and four-year institutions.
Kalicki is a SUNY Albany alumnus with a Ph.D. in Educational Administration. In addition to his administrative expertise, he is an active educator, teaching graduate programs online. Outside academia, he has made significant contributions to national and state commissions and is committed to community service, having worked with organizations like Gilda’s Club, Special Olympics, and CASA.
“It is both an honor and a privilege to join Rockland Community College,” said Kalicki. “I am eager to engage with the faculty, staff, students, and community, and I look forward to learning from and collaborating with each of them during this transition period.”
The Board of Trustees expressed their deep appreciation for Coyle’s leadership over the past six months and her contributions as Vice President of Operations from 2018 to 2023.
“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Coyle for her unwavering dedication and commitment to Rockland Community College,” said L’Tanya M. Watkins, Esq., Chair of the RCC Board of Trustees. “We are excited to welcome Dr. Kalicki to the campus and are confident in his ability to ensure a smooth and seamless transition for all.”
The appointment of Kalicki marks a significant step in RCC’s ongoing mission to provide high-quality education and leadership for its students and community. His expertise and vision will guide the institution during this pivotal transition period.
