Rockland Man Indicted in Federal Child Pornography Case

February 4, 2025  •  By helpdesk1

Rockland County, NY – A Rockland County resident has been indicted by a federal grand jury in connection with a child pornography case spanning multiple states. The indictment, issued on January 29, 2025, charges Jason J. Traina, 52, of Rockland County, NY, with distribution of child pornography as part of an investigation led by federal and local law enforcement agencies.

Traina made his initial appearance in the Southern District of New York on January 31, 2025, where prosecutors argued that he should remain in custody pending trial. However, a United States Magistrate Judge released Traina with conditions, including home detention and electronic monitoring.

The case is part of a broader federal investigation that also resulted in charges against Carrie Marie Campbell, 40, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, who has been charged with receipt of child pornography. Campbell remains in custody pending a detention hearing.

If convicted, Traina faces a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in prison and a maximum sentence of twenty years. The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Council Bluffs Police Department, with significant assistance from the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office, FBI Safe Streets NY, and the Stony Point Police Department.

Federal authorities emphasized the importance of interagency collaboration in addressing crimes related to child exploitation. The Rockland County District Attorney’s Office played a key role in assisting federal agencies, ensuring that law enforcement efforts extended across jurisdictions.

This case highlights ongoing efforts in Rockland County to combat child exploitation and strengthen law enforcement partnerships. Authorities encourage the public to report any suspicious activity related to child exploitation to local law enforcement or the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.
