In a significant legal victory, the City’s appeal to dismiss a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) by Rockland County was denied on Friday May 12, 2023.
The lawsuit, now made public (see below), contests the City’s decision to set up a shelter for 340 migrant males, beyond its jurisdiction, in apparent violation of state regulations. Lawyers for Rockland County argue that the city bypassed necessary legal procedures, questioning its authority to do so.
The court’s latest ruling bolsters the opposition’s case, creating further hurdles for the City’s controversial initiative.
