The Sixth Annual Lake DeForest Day, set for Saturday, June 25, will feature a Family Walk and 5K run across the Freedom Causeway to benefit Keep Rockland Beautiful and Hackensack Riverkeeper.
Returning after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the day will also feature public kayaking and the Supervisor’s Challenge — a kayak race between the five Rockland towns. Stony Point will seek to defend its championship of the Supervisor’s Cup. More than 400 paddlers, runners and walkers are expected to participate at the reservoir in West Nyack. Information about registration, fees and schedules can be found at www.LakeDeForestDay.com.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Hackensack Riverkeeper and Keep Rockland Beautiful.
Bailey the Beaver, Veolia’s conservation character, will also appear at the opening ceremonies.
